The Eastern Economic Corridor Office (EECO) is preparing for the Cabinet to approve investment privileges for entrepreneurs in special economic zones this month.
The new law will streamline the application process for foreign investors, enabling them to apply for promotional privileges directly with the EECO, according to EECO secretary-general, Chula Sukmanop.
The EEC covers Rayong, Chonburi, and Chachoengsao provinces.
Upon the law's enactment, a committee chaired by Chula, consisting of 7 EECO experts and rotating members, will begin investor negotiations possibly next month.
Initial estimates suggest up to 30 companies may apply for privileges, with a combined investment value of 210 billion baht.
Key industries targeted include electric vehicles, healthcare, digital, BCG, and future service industries.
More than half of the projected investments, around 1 billion baht, are expected in the BCG sector.
The EECO aims to attract at least 100 billion baht in foreign direct investment annually until 2028.
