The government of Thailand has launched a campaign to provide free cervical cancer vaccinations to eligible girls and young women aged 11 to 20, available until April 30, 2025. This initiative is part of the country's efforts to combat cervical cancer, a significant health issue that affects many women annually.

Deputy government spokeswoman Sasikarn Watthanachan highlighted the importance of this initiative, stating that cervical cancer remains a major health concern in Thailand.

The vaccination program focuses on protecting against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), which is known as a prevalent sexually transmitted infection that can lead to cervical cancer and other associated health problems.

The vaccine has been shown to significantly reduce the risk of developing HPV-related cancers and genital warts.

Under the program, no pre-registration is necessary.

Young women and girls who meet the eligibility criteria are required to present their identification cards at one of the 69 health service centres distributed across the country.

Vaccinations will be administered every Wednesday from 1 PM to 3 PM.

In addition to the health service centres, the vaccine is also being provided to Prathom 5 students at schools operated by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.

The Health Department of the City Hall is responsible for coordinating the vaccination efforts at these educational institutions.

The campaign specifically targets individuals who have never been vaccinated against HPV or have received a prior vaccination more than six months ago.

This extensive vaccination effort is part of a broader public health strategy to reduce cervical cancer incidence in Thailand.
