A Canadian man was discovered deceased in a parked sedan near Nui Beach in the Muang district of Phuket, Thailand.

The car was reported to authorities around 9:15 a.m. local time after it was noticed parked at the beach entrance.

The Karon police chief, Pol Col Khunnadet Na Nongkhai, indicated that police and forensic experts were dispatched to the scene.

Upon accessing the locked vehicle, they found the body of the deceased, identified as Ian Macaulay, a 53-year-old man from Montreal, Canada, whose Canadian passport was located within the car.

In addition to the passport, authorities found a letter written in English, dated February 9, addressed to an individual named Naz.

The letter detailed Macaulay's health issues and expressed concerns regarding the financial strain that his circumstances had placed on his family.

In it, he requested a single day of religious rites followed by the scattering of his ashes in the Andaman Sea off Kamala Beach.

Pol Col Khunnadet stated that Macaulay operated an online accommodation business and suggested that the combination of health challenges and financial problems may have contributed to his decision to take his own life.

An autopsy was subsequently scheduled at Vachira Phuket Hospital to ascertain the exact cause of death.

The local Canadian consulate has been notified, and Macaulay's family has been contacted regarding the situation.
