Over 11,000 students vie for 1,100 seats in Triam Udom Suksa School
Over 11,000 applicants competed for 1,100 spots at Thailand's prestigious Triam Udom Suksa School in Nonthaburi's Impact Arena Muang Thong Thani.
The competition took place on a Saturday from 8:30 am to 1 pm, drawing students nationwide. Triam Udom Suksa, considered the best secondary school in Thailand, will enroll only 1,520 students across eight programs, with 1,110 selected via exams and 410 through special quotas.
The event drew parental attendance and oversight from state officials for safety. The turnout was less than the 12,400 from the previous year. Due to the influx of hopefuls, local traffic police alerted drivers about heavy congestion and advised alternative routes.
Founded in 1938 as a feeder school for Chulalongkorn University, Triam Udom Suksa serves students in grades 10-12 and is renowned for its rigorous entrance process.
Notable alumni include Progressive Movement leader Thanathorn Juangroongruankit, Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt, and activist Parit “Penguin” Chiwarak.
