On October 3, citizens crowded the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives to collect a government cash handout of 10,000 baht each.
The Fiscal Policy Office (FPO), led by Director-General Pornchai Thiraveja, reported that the government distributed funds to 14,407,357 vulnerable individuals, totaling 144 billion baht infused into the economy.
The FPO advised recipients to use these funds wisely for themselves and their families.
However, some eligible recipients missed the payment due to issues like expired disability cards or failure to link accounts with PromptPay, prompting a retry payment round on October 21.
During the retry, the Comptroller-General's Department processed payments for an additional 414,908 eligible individuals, though 64,892 transactions were unsuccessful.
The government plans another retry in November and anticipates launching a second phase of the handout scheme, pending schedule and payment structure confirmation.
