Bangkok Named World’s Most-Booked City for 2026, Cementing Thailand’s Global Tourism Appeal
Data from eDreams ODIGEO shows Bangkok leading international travel bookings for the year ahead, ahead of major cultural capitals like Paris and Rio de Janeiro
Bangkok has emerged as the top-booked travel destination in the world for 2026, according to new data from global online travel agency eDreams ODIGEO, underlining the Thai capital’s enduring appeal as a magnet for international visitors.
The rankings reflect flight and travel bookings made for journeys between January 1 and December 31, 2026, and place Bangkok ahead of perennial favourites such as Paris in France and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
The list of the ten most-booked cities also includes Barcelona and Madrid in Spain, Rome in Italy, London in the United Kingdom, Florianópolis in Brazil, Amsterdam in the Netherlands and Marrakech in Morocco, highlighting a broad geographic mix that spans Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia.
Bangkok’s top position demonstrates particularly strong global interest in Southeast Asia as international tourism rebounds and travellers plan trips well in advance.
Travel analysts suggest that Bangkok’s leadership in bookings reflects a combination of factors, including its rich cultural heritage, vibrant street life, renowned cuisine and expanding international connectivity.
The city regularly ranks among the world’s most visited destinations and serves as Thailand’s principal gateway for global travellers arriving through major hubs such as Suvarnabhumi Airport, one of the busiest aviation centres in Asia.
The prominence of Bangkok in the 2026 bookings list also aligns with broader trends observed in travel search data, which consistently place the city at or near the top of global interest lists.
Industry observers say that continued interest in urban experiences, cultural exploration and dynamic food and entertainment scenes will likely keep Bangkok high on international travel itineraries as the year unfolds.
