SCG Strengthens Vietnam’s Role as ASEAN Manufacturing and Export Gateway
Thai industrial leader expands regional optimization strategy, anchoring production and exports in Vietnam to boost ASEAN competitiveness
SCG has advanced its regional optimization strategy by positioning Vietnam as a central manufacturing base and export gateway for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
The move reflects the group’s long-term confidence in Vietnam’s economic fundamentals, including its expanding domestic market, improving infrastructure, competitive cost structure and strong integration into global trade networks.
Vietnam now plays a pivotal role within SCG’s regional production network, complementing operations across Southeast Asia while supporting efficient exports to international markets.
The group’s cumulative investments in Vietnam span chemicals, building materials, packaging and logistics, forming one of its most significant overseas asset bases and reinforcing cross-border industrial integration led by Thailand.
A cornerstone of this strategy is the Long Son Petrochemicals complex, Vietnam’s first fully integrated petrochemical facility.
Designed with flexible feedstock capabilities and advanced environmental safeguards, the complex strengthens supply security and cost efficiency while aligning with SCG’s sustainability priorities.
Ongoing enhancement projects are progressing in line with planned timelines, supporting long-term competitiveness amid global market volatility.
SCG has also reinforced its footprint through Binh Minh Plastics, a leading producer of plastic piping systems with nationwide distribution.
Operational synergies with Thai industrial partners have enabled greater automation, higher value-added products and the expansion of environmentally certified solutions, supporting infrastructure growth both within Vietnam and across the wider ASEAN market.
Alongside industrial expansion, SCG continues to invest in environmental, social and governance initiatives in Vietnam, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, workforce development and community programmes.
These efforts underline the group’s commitment to sustainable growth while deepening Thailand–Vietnam economic cooperation.
By designating Vietnam as a manufacturing and export hub, SCG aims to enhance ASEAN’s collective industrial strength, improve supply chain resilience and support long-term regional growth driven by innovation, sustainability and integrated production networks.
