Deputy spokesperson exposes deadly truth about colon cancer
Deputy Spokesperson Radklao Inthawong Suwankiri has issued a stark warning about the dangers of colon cancer, often referred to as a silent killer.
She noted it is among the top five cancers in Thailand and underlined the role of lifestyle changes in its increasing incidence, making it a major cause of death and a growing health issue.
Each year, around 12,500 Thais are diagnosed with colon cancer, and more than 4,700 die from it. Radklao attributes this to diets high in fats, fast foods, and processed meats, as well as smoking, alcohol use, inactivity, and obesity.
To combat colorectal cancer, early detection through screenings such as annual fecal occult blood tests for those over 50 is critical, with colonoscopies serving as potential lifesavers, according to Pattaya Mail.
Separately, Associate Professor Dr. Surat Tanprawate, a neurologist, advised limiting the intake of barbeque and grilled pork to once a month and stressed eating organic vegetables to reduce the risk of colon cancer and other serious illnesses. Dr. Surat shared this advice on his social media page, "Brain with Dr Surat," on November 10.
