The 'Moo Deng' charity project, inspired by the viral fame of a baby hippo nicknamed 'bouncy pig' in Thailand, is set to involve 38 agencies in a fundraising initiative.
More than 10,000 visitors recently gathered at Khao Kheow Zoo in Chonburi to see the popular hippo, highlighting the broad appeal of Moo Deng both locally and internationally.
The initiative is spearheaded by the Zoological Park Organization of Thailand (ZPOT) and aims to support flood relief efforts and enhance animal welfare at six Thai zoos: Khao Kheow, Chiang Mai, Nakhon Ratchasima, Songkhla, Ubon Ratchathani, and Khon Kaen.
Among the participating agencies, Thailand Post plans to create themed stamps and postcards, while Advanced Info Service (AIS) will produce T-shirts and Line stickers.
PunThai Coffee will launch promotional campaigns in Chonburi, including at Khao Kheow Zoo, and release Moo Deng-themed souvenirs.
ZPOT has expressed gratitude toward the agencies and Moo Deng fans who have promoted the baby hippo's international status as a symbol of Thailand’s soft power.
